When both rooms are done separately they almost never agree with each other. Taking them on together meant one stone order, one tile order and one set of hardware, which kept the cost down and made the two rooms read as parts of the same house.
It also compresses the disruption into a single window rather than two. The crews move from one room to the other on a fixed sequence, and the parts of the home you still have to live in stay usable throughout.
